The musical Illinoise is a unique piece of dance theatre, bridging the two art forms to bring Stevens’s concept album to life. In the musical, a young wanderer meets other adrift souls in the American heartland; together, they share stories around a campfire and travel as far as the stars.

  2. After earning a Grammy nomination, Sufjan Stevens has also made a splash in Hollywood, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for writing and performing Call Me By Your Name’s “Mystery of Love.” Illinoise marks his first major foray into theatre and gives audiences a new way to encounter his work.
