Romeo & Juliet - 3 Fun Facts

  1. A musical adaptation calls for dancing, and choreographer Sonya Tayeh (a Tony Award winner for Moulin Rouge!) is the play’s movement director.

  2. This is not Sam Gold’s first Shakespeare production on Broadway: he previously directed Macbeth with Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga and King Lear with Glenda Jackson

  3. Many actresses have played Juliet, and many have sung as Maria, her West Side Story counterpart, but few have played both, and no one besides Rachel Zegler on such a Hollywood and Broadway scale: the stars aligning makes for a very exciting Broadway debut for the young actress.
