Othello in New York reunites Washington with Leon, who directed him in the Broadway revivals of Fences, for which Washington won a Tony Award, and A Raisin in the Sun, for which Leon won his. Gyllenhaal is also no stranger to the stage: he appeared in Sea Wall/A Life and earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance.
